(see Mythology). God of Craftsmen, Rebirth, and Creation. He was shown wrapped like a mummy, with only his hands sticking out of the mummy wrap, and a close-fitting skull cap. In some myths he is said to have called the world into being and thus created Atum. He was also said to have created the Opening of the Mouth Ceremony, performed by priests at funerals to release the soul and to allow the person to speak again (or the first time in the case where the ceremony was performed on a statue). He was married to Sekhmet and the father of Nefertem.
